Bad credit? No credit?
NoBig problem! In order to thwart iPhone reselling (and the seedy unlocked black market), Apple is reducing the former five per customer iPhone limit to just two—and cash will no longer be accepted on any iPhone purchases. We can only assume that credit cards allow Apple to better track mass purchasers since, if anything, plastic allows people to spend more money on products than they have in their bank accounts. We’re guessing that neither of these new restrictions will impact 99% of consumers, but that perfumed old lady with her huge jar of change will just need to settle for a Prada. [nytimes]
The only reason I can guess as to why Apple is going to limit the amount of hardware they sell to customers is because of the demands of AT&T. Apple makes their money off of hardware and in the end they shouldn’t care where the iphone ends up. The have already pocketed their money. This partnership with AT&T is going to come back to bite them more and more.

The animation doesn’t only look like it’s from the 80’s the quality is also inconsistent. This is a half-assed job for a property that deserves so much more. As a Dragonlance fan feel insulted.
The Dragonlance movie site, a site I’ve been visiting for six years now, still seems excited about the movie. I’ll hold off complete judgment until I see it but as of now I’m disappointed.

From Kotaku:
With all those erotic PC games released in Japan, how’s a company supposed to stand out? Hint: Make the game tangible. On the fifth floor of Akihabara Sofmap, married women title Married Women Harem ~This is the Married Women Paradise Inn~ does just that! Instead of just leaving a stack of fliers and info about pre-ordering, there is a display to entice costumers to pick up the game’s literature. We’ve seen this before: Here, for example. That doesn’t mean one still can’t marvel at this game promotion wizardy!
Me pay money now?

A few of my heroes, my icons, the people who I attempt to model my life after are shown in this little tribute to apple, it’s tribute to human creativity really. It almost brings tears to my eyes. Espcailly watching Doyle Brunson tip his hat from the 2004 World Series, I remember that so well and cheered for him along with everyone in that room. It almost felt like I was really there.
To the crazy ones!

Gizmodo post this story, which seems so strange that is must be repeated.
We were under the impression that Japan was so awesome crime didn’t exist there. Unfortunately, it does. To ward off criminals, fashion designer Aya Tsukioka has conjured up some neat transforming clothes/accessories to deceive potential muggers. Whether there would be time to get your kit out in an attack is probably something we would not want to test out, but the concept makes for one kick-ass gallery; check it out below:
Examples include a skirt that transforms the wearer into a nondescript vending machine (yes, seriously) and the unfortunately titled Manhole Bag, which converts a lady’s handbag into what appears to be a sewer cover with the contents kept safe inside. We think it is a bit ridiculous, but we just can’t help thinking that Frucci is cruising the streets as a big red vending machine. Classic Frucci. [Age via Textually]
Any thief or rapist dumb enough to fall for this, really doesn’t deserve what they are after anyway.

Steve Jobs has posted an open letter revealing that Apple will be releasing a 3rd party Software Development Kit (SDK) for iPhone and iPod Touch applications. The SDK will be released in February 2008.At this time, the letter only appears on Apple’s Hot News page:
We’ve reproduced it here in its entirety:
Let me just say it: We want native third party applications on the iPhone, and we plan to have an SDK in developers’ hands in February. We are excited about creating a vibrant third party developer community around the iPhone and enabling hundreds of new applications for our users. With our revolutionary multi-touch interface, powerful hardware and advanced software architecture, we believe we have created the best mobile platform ever for developers.
It will take until February to release an SDK because we’re trying to do two diametrically opposed things at once—provide an advanced and open platform to developers while at the same time protect iPhone users from viruses, malware, privacy attacks, etc. This is no easy task. Some claim that viruses and malware are not a problem on mobile phones—this is simply not true. There have been serious viruses on other mobile phones already, including some that silently spread from phone to phone over the cell network. As our phones become more powerful, these malicious programs will become more dangerous. And since the iPhone is the most advanced phone ever, it will be a highly visible target.
Some companies are already taking action. Nokia, for example, is not allowing any applications to be loaded onto some of their newest phones unless they have a digital signature that can be traced back to a known developer. While this makes such a phone less than “totally open,” we believe it is a step in the right direction. We are working on an advanced system which will offer developers broad access to natively program the iPhone’s amazing software platform while at the same time protecting users from malicious programs.
We think a few months of patience now will be rewarded by many years of great third party applications running on safe and reliable iPhones.
Steve
P.S.: The SDK will also allow developers to create applications for iPod touch. [Oct 17, 2007]
Steve Jobs points to Nokia’s digital-signature system as a “step in the right direction” and promises some system that balances developer access and security.
I never really felt safe putting third party apps on my iPhone, but I’m excited that apple is going to sponsor an SDK and give us some apps that will look good and be useful and not just…. show off the fact that you can put apps on the phone; which is what I thought most of the iPhone developers were trying to prove by developing their applications.
I’m looking forward to getting more out of my phone, but I hope that they aren’t going to charge for them. I don’t mind spending money on something that will be useful, but software wants to be free. It told me!

The Des Moines Register would like you to know that Walmart is test marketing some
talking Jesus action figures. The dolls will set you back $14.97.Will a talking Jesus action figure sell? A Walmart employee speculates: “There are some missing and I don’t think someone is going to steal them.”
He’s wearing a simple tunic with that Kenny Loggins haircut. Push the button on his back and he says this:”I am Jesus. I am the son of God.”
Jesus and his shelf mates, Mary, David, Noah, Samson, Esther and Moses, make up “Tales of Glory.” They were introduced to secular commerce this fall. It’s the first time the world’s largest retailer has sold a full line of faith-based toys.”
This kind of stuff just disturbs me, another way for Christian parents to force religion on their children. Everyone knows what is going to happen to Jesus, he is going to have a gun put in his hand and fight against GI Joe because honestly… how can a young kid play with Jesus and his buddies? Jesus won’t end up curing the lepers but sitting on an old womans shelf collecting dust.
